I just finished a house for a lady that's an enviro-nut... she bitched because a painter using the 40 dollar a gallon paint she bought because it was eco-friendly made 12 dollars an hour (She's a doctor building a 4 million dollar house). Do you really think these guys can afford all of these "green" innovations? Hell no.
I have to agree with bolinkerman. Having worked in construction, I have seen plenty of guys making anywhere from 7-15 dollars an hour. And yes, they live on that. Now look at how much solar panels, halogen, led, compact fluorecent lights, and rain water collection systems. Remember, these are the guys installing these systems.
Claims that spending on green technologies will create "millions" of new jobs are false.
As any economist will tell you, adopting new green technologies isn't cost-free; it requires trade-offs. Money spent on curbing greenhouse gases is money that can't be spent elsewhere, so opportunities will inevitably be lost.
By 2020, implementation of such a system would kill 2 to 4million jobs (even after accounting for the new "green-collar" variety) and shrink our GDP by up to $500 billion."
Gore renovated one of his huge mansions to save energy? Now he only uses ten times more energy than the average person. Must be nice to be a gazillionaire.
(finishing my comment...)

Think about it.
