One tonaity and melodic figures on the Fender Rhodes? Sorry not impressive to me.

Mr Stepney was truly a genius WAY ahead of his time - his work with Terry, Dells, EWF, Deneice Williams, and esp Minnie have never been equaled.

Thank you for all your beautiful music.

@R.J. Number 45, I know whatcha mean. Whenever I hear Imagination, especially the ending vocal harmonies, I think there is not a more beautiful sound out there. That one and Spirit, along with Feelin Blue, Devotion, and All about Love, among others that are too numerous to name, also cause me to burst into tears. These cuts just scream his genius. About this one, this is baaaaaaad! Is that him on Rhodes? Wow!

I remember Charles and also his wife very well, I had the pleasure of playing with Charles and Eddie Harris on a number of occasions at the Old Wilson Junior College..I believe the family was living in Jackson Park Highlands when he passed...May both Charles and his wife rest in peace..It was nice to see his girls all grown up.

Many people aren't familiar with Charles Stepney. Therefore, the family has uploaded a video entitled Interrupted Greatness The Chares Stepney Story. It is a synopsis of the Stepney daughters lives with and without him. Check it out if you can.
Thank you

i cant listen to 'Burnin Bush' or 'Spirit' without busting into tears ... and im a grown ass man ... but i dont care ...
Charles Stepney is maybe the greatest composer of genuine SOUL music ... when i listen to Ramsey Lewis, Earth Wind & Fire, The Emotions (Flowers), Rotary Connection & Minnie Ripperton, The Dells, Terry Callier or Marlena Shaw (California Soul), there's a certain feeling i get where the hairs on my neck tingle and my eyes tear up ... its almost like i can feel Mr. Stepney, Maurice White, Minnie Ripperton, Sheila Hutchinson (etc.) and them in the room with me, but they cant see or hear me ... RIP

Charles Stephney is a true candidate for TV1's "unsung" series. I love what Cathy Hughes is doing to acknowledge artists who have long gone underappreciated. Here's a plug for another great music man. Dat's whussup!!!
