This short extract was from the The Gilbert & Sullivan Society of North Louisiana's 1999 production of HMS Pinafore, directed by John Matthews. In this scene Captain Corcoran (Leonard Yoakum) explains to Sir Joseph Porter (Richard King), that his daughter Josephine (Donna Cox) is probably intimidated by his lofty station, and suggests that Sir Joseph should inform Josephine that "love levels all ranks". He follows this advice, not realizing that he is also pleading the cause of his rival. After Sir Joseph and Josephine leave the stage, Dick Deadeye makes a rather strange reappearance! (To make sense of his entry, see the Finale to Act One.)

  • i truly wish more people would post the glory of Gillbert & Sullivan, it is truly hard to find some of their works online

  • @GTBAnime Well said!

  • North Louisiana has a Gilbert and Sullivan society?

  • @Vadergeek Yes, we still have a few stalwarts who prefer real entertainment rather than the homogonized tripe served up on TV!

  • Excellent.

Thank you so much for getting our flag the right way up.

  • @avril2 I forgot to mention, it's also my flag.

  • I think this is one of the best productions of HMS Pinafore I have seen. It has comedy in it but not so much that it is over the top. Great Job! Richard King, you rock! And so do you Leonard Yoakum and Donna Cox!

  • I'm very disappointed that the entire performace isn't available for purchase. The mixing of music, vocals and crowd seems to be done very well from what I've heard on this and the other songs on your account.

Very well done, I'll be sure to try and claim a seat at a performance, whatever the play may be, if I'm ever in Louisiana. If it's half as good as this I'll be more than pleased. Well done!

  • @rearvumirror I'm just surprised that there are enough fans so that you need one for North Louisiana specifically.

  • @avril2 You are welcome, and thank you for taking the time to comment.

  • Sir Joseph RULED!

  • @rearvumirror Why, yes he is!
