@thequantumflux You can believe what you want. I'm not trying to convince you that the Bible has the correct answer, because I can't. I am trying to open eyes to the idea that what is widely considered factual can be nothing more than belief, as theories are not proof. Carl Sagan has every right in this vid to exhibit his personal beliefs, but that doesn't make them true. This isn't science anymore than creationism is. And he does not have the right to use "science" to disprove religion.

@thequantumflux Your comment exhibits extreme naivety. Yes, theories are based on repeatable observations often considered fact. But that does not make the theory=fact. There is still no way of PROVING old earth theory. As for nomads, Luke (Luke/Acts) was a doctor. Mathew was a tax collector. Moses(Pentateuch) was an architect/engineer. Daniel was akin to today's VP. Paul (Cor, Thes, Col, Romans) was a Roman army officer, and Job was the Bill Gates of his day. Not exactly nomads.

@Shepson1 It;s obvious you dont understand the definition of the word theory as it relates to science. You are using it in a layman's terms not in the context of it proper definition. A theory, as it relates to science, is based on a body of facts that have been repeatedly confirmed through observation and experimentation via the scientific method. Creationism uses the bible, a book written over 2000 years by desert nomads. Yeah that makes sense.

You’re right. Those things have never been proven. But you missed my point. Everyone seems to forget that neither has old earth theory been proven. It’s ALL theory. My point is that you must accept on faith either theory. Faith that scripture is right or that science is. You pick. And that's not science. I'm not saying I'm right and you're wrong. I'm saying this isn't science.
Keep in mind that in science, widespread acceptance DOES NOT equal proof.

@Shepson1 Yeah geology, archeology, raidocarbon dating are all wrong... your religious documentries telling us how the grand canyon was formed in hours by Noah's flood must be right.
Oh and forget diamonds take millions of years to form... oh fossil fuel must form much faster then we thought... dinosaurs can't be millions of years old either... forget about amber being millions of years old...
Young earth theories have NEVER BEEN PROVEN, they are nonsense, it your mind that is made up.

@Kariakas Scripture never makes claims of a flat earth, or a geocentric universe. That came from humans in the church adding what didn't belong. Cures for Leprosy were miracles, another realm science has no say in. The idea of complex life, diversity, and a young earth model are all supported in the natural world just as much as evolution and millions of years, if you'd do your research. It cannot be PROVEN either way, which makes it non-scientific. But you've already made up your mind.

@Shepson1 "Religion, by definition, describes phenomena that science simply can't". Yeah right, like how religion described the world as being flat, how you can cure leprosy with animal sacrifice, how the earth is 6000 years old, how all complex life created as is, how the earth is the center of the solar system, galaxy and universe... Science has often proven religion wrong. It's lunacy to think that something that got such basic things wrong would be right about everything else.
