Every guy that has new snap ons wish they went IR. I just keep beating on my IR's and they keep coming back. Im not a guru for them, its just the first one I ever bought and stuck with them....cant complain.

@BobbyKos I now go to a Snap On dealer down the road in my area, see him on most weekends.Only Snap On air tool I have good luck with is their 3/8 air ratchets.Got one back from getting rebuilt and my other one is getting sent in to get rebuilt.I won't buy thier 1/4 air ratchets, junk.I will only buy the cheap throw away 1/4 air ratchets.I have one from Harbor Frieght that has been holding up great including an ATD,the same way with this one too.

@wafrederick Sorry about your luck with Snap On dealers. My dealer in Michigan is fantastic and exhibits none of the behavior you describe. I'm amazed that you're presenting what your Matco dealer tells you about Snap On tools as fact. Do you think he'd EVER tell you that the MG 725 is a good gun? Or that the IR Hammerhead is having dreadful reliability issues? Hell No!! You don't have first hand experience with current production Snap On tools, so your comments are only opinions.

@BobbyKos My father kicked out his dealer in 1998.Dealer treated him like shit and the service was lousy. Most of his Snap On stuff is worn out and the dealer he had would not replace them under warranty.Said anything worn out is not covered.Snap On is having warranty problems big time, dealers not wanting to replace a broken tool because it was not purchased from them.Snap On impacts are good at first and then go wimpy. This is one reason why my matco tool dealer takes them on trade.

@wafrederick You're complaining about a 30 year old Snap On gun that your dad didn't like and a single broken gun of dubious origin that you saw on a Matco truck. You want to see 30 years worth of broken and screwed up IR guns? I have them all in one place. All in a box along with the POS IR XP107 I was stupid enough to buy and a couple dead IR 212s. Your experience with Snap On guns is totally irrelevant to what is available in today's market.

@BobbyKos My father tried the Snap On impact and this was in the 1980s and was gutless.I don't know the age of the seized up impact, probally was the hammering mechansm broken.Snap On designed it way too thin.

@wafrederick IR231? How long ago did you or your dad look at SO guns? How old was the seized gun? The SO guns use oil bath hammers. If some dilwad had a leak and ran it out of oil then, well, yes it will seize up. Car engines do the same thing when you run them out of oil you know.

@BobbyKos My father tried a Snap On impact once, nothing but a pile of junk and in for repairs most of the time.Snap On dealer he once had talked him into trying it out and my father told him to give his 231 back.I never had problems with the anvils on an IR wear out quickly.I even saw a Snap On impact with a seized up hammering mechanism my Matco dealer took on trade.Could not turn the anvil at all.

@wafrederick I own 2 MG725 and they have been problem free and more powerful than any IR I or any of my colleagues have owned. Heavier? - Yes. Junk? - Not a chance. I use chrome sockets on hand tools and Impact sockets on guns and air ratchets, so I still contend that the IR anvils are junk. I no longer have any reason to waste money on IR guns. The Snap On MG 725s are working well for me and have lasted 3X as long as any IR gun I have owned and they're still going strong.
Thanks all for keepin my video forum rollin...appreciate the comments Ingersoll Rand Rules!!!
