Just a blues in C by Bird, a bit tricky head though, but fun to play. This is my second attempt to test my cheap webcam I bought yesterday, the resolution of pic and frame rate are bit strange, when my finger moves fast, I see some kind of trailing effect, well at least I hope you get some idea visually. It is by no means of video production anyway, just play some music.

  • love the tone.

  • I take that back. Sorry.

  • the links for the tabs don't work.

  • Hot take!

  • I am also learning the Omnibook. Use the book for reference but work the solos out by ear first: you'll find that its more accurate. Use 'Transcribe'.

Start with all the blues heads and solos. Learn in all positions and in all keys. Once you've done, this play through the solos and isolate phrases that you like. Analyse. Extract and write your own solos that include your favourite phrases. Play in all positions and all keys.

Repeat for all 'Rhythm Changes' and the rest of the Omnibook. :)

  • I really like what you did here! You understate what you have done. The "Just a blues in C by Bird" as you have done it is great...easier said than done!

  • This was written when Charlie was committed at Camarillo State mental hospital. I live right next to it. It is now a university. Still the same buildings though,.

  • Wow, you even had the piano intro!

I like the little "lester leaps in" you started your solo off with =) I noticed you take a breath in between phrases sometimes. I'm wondering if you are humming along with your solos?

  • by the way, i think they took all the bad notes out of your guitar, i'd get that looked at.

  • i am working on my bebop soloing. right now i am memorizing the omnibook. do you have any tips for me to get better at improvising bebop style?
