Well here it is,a little over a year since the event but finally the video of some of the celebrities I captured on video, walking the red carpet. I actually had produced the video on Sony Vegas Pro trial version and ran out hours before I finished,so it never got rendered.I got the trial again recently and started again, this time it got finished. I have to say the software is amazing !!! the stuff that can be done is phenomenal and I was only using it in a most basic mode. I did not have access to online help so I was not able to really explore it's true potential except by trial and error and I am impressed. The only let down is the $500 price tag that owns it !
Anyway there are a couple of short clips of Orianthi Pangaris(guitarist for MJ's up and coming world tour, before his untimely passing). She did two short stint's but never played the song in full, leading me to think it must have been just to edit into the televised event which started three hours or so later.
There is also a couple of Aussie stars including Jessica Mauboy, thanks for the nice direct look and wave directly at the camera, there is also a quick Q&A with Terri Irwin and a snippit of Vanessa Amerosi. I also got a bit of Stan from Australian Idol (season one I think),Ruby from MTV,a presenter from Getaway, who's name escape me (drop dead gorgeous and hot !!) and the legend himself Ian 'Molly' Meldrum, who showed brilliant character iin being tiresomely obliging to fans. One cannot have too much good to say about Molly on the red carpet,a true gentleman offering up his dog to the arms of fans to have a photo taken, what a sport !! He left alot of others for dead. Last but by no means least is Keith Urban and Robbie Williams who also gave a nice portrait, looking into the camera. They both put alot of effort into time with the fans,Robbie looking a little overwhelmed buy the demand for a signature and photo,by almost every person aligning the carpet. I do want to say at this point that i don't think the organization of the red carpet was worked out that well. There seemed to be a lot of industry insiders who walked it,unknown by the fans and just basically behaving a little like groupies. All they did was block the view on the carpet by milling around with others, having a chat and taking photo's with notable celebs. Why was it not organized that there be an area inside where they could mill around and talk, take photo's and get half tanked before entering the event auditorium/stadium itself? I know there were plenty of people who were disappointed by this, after all isn't the red carpet about the fans opportunity to access for a pic and autograph, and the celebs to lift their profile by posing for the paparazzi in general,of whom there were plenty who weren't allowed onto the red carpet.
So...almost enough negativity,I didn't go this year,no great loss, the televised event was an embarrassment to Australian TV and poor Carmen Electra was left hanging a few times,my head hung in shame, she was not going to have good things to say back in the US ! The organizers charged $150 for a 'Red Carpet Experience' which I'm guessing was sitting on a small set of bleachers
like 2009 and get your view blocked by all the industry insiders.
One positive thing to be said, well done Ch 10 for trying to work outside the box and stage the event in a unique manner ! Maybe next year can they show more of the red carpet and less of the ceremony, saving us the pain by delaying the telecast till the next day and just give us a rundown of the awards. ASK the ordinary people what they think, rather than just guessing, make an online poll. I would think most would watch to see an interview with the stars upon arrival and upon leaving, after winning the award, not the boring ceremonies themselves, people want to get up close and personal with the stars, maybe interview them offstage after the award, while onstage the next award is being built up to and show then announcement and presentation.......something to think about ?
Finally, hope you enjoy the video, there are some nice up and close shots.
