step 1: Shut up
step 2: Enjoy the music

Slash is also too overrated, Tom Morello and Slash are actually equal. Eddie V is far better than both of them.

the bass player is very charismatic

not the same with no helicopter build up at the beginning. If I was the guitarist I'd quit and committ hara kiri for basterdizing tom's work

Why do people like you constantly suck Tom Morello's dick like he's some kind of god? All the "helicopter noise" is is slapping the muted strings with a slapback delay effect. ANYBODY with an effects processor and two hands can do that, they don't even have to know how to play guitar. I like the effect too, but not having it there doesn't detract from the song at all, and it doesn't change the fact that Tom Morello is quite possibly THE most overrated guitarist of our generation.

but did anyone else think of doing a helicopter sound? It's an essential part tof the song because it helps build the tension. TOm isn't a great player because he can do what Eddie V or Slash does (and he probably can) but because he developed his own style and no one thought of any of that shit before

Jimi Hendrix was making machine gun noises with a delay pedal in the late 60s, long before Tom Morello came along. Obviously with modern equipment, Tom's sound is a lot more refined, but it's pretty much the same idea. I like a lot of Tom's work, but almost all of his stuff is pretty easy to play once you get past the effects. And I don't think he's really that innovative, a lot of the key parts of his playing style (such as the killswitch trick and the Whammy pedal) were around before he was.

were you in the grass or just the back?

I was about 15 feet to the left and behind the soundboard...I wasn't in the back at all.
