Drywall seams separate from the wall many times because the paper was embedded in compound that was too dry. The paper needs moisture to adhere correctly. When compound is applied to the wall and then the tape embedded, the mud surface drys out before the tape can adhere. i've seen the tape come up before because some of these contractors want to get the job done quickly so they use tape guns that really thin the mud out.
