8 DAYS: THE MAHBHARATA RETOLD
CONCEPT NOTES by GRANT MORRISON

This new version of the Mahbharata is set in fantastic, mythic time, at the end of the Dwapara Yuga (Copper Age) and the beginning of the fallen, corrupt Kali Yuga, the Age of Iron.

Although historically, the epic is generally thought to refer to events occurring as recently as 9 BC and as long ago as 15 BC (depending on which account you favour), Id like to place the action much further back into a more fantastical Indian past so that we can take full advantage of the possibilities for action and spectacle on a scale rarely scene. This is like a psychedelic The Lord of the Rings with Star Wars technology. --- as per the official website

  • Umm.

    1 they are white.

2 saying they fight with no remorse. Ahem. The Bhagavad Gita is all about Arjuna's remorse.

Seems like total rubbish to me. The story itself is an epic because whether you believe it to be fact or fiction the issues are global and timeless.

This seems to me to be a major Kali yuga bastardisation.

  • @razzamattaz108 : Well... you got it all wrong dear... this movie is not about Geeta... its about Mahabharat... arjuns remorse is part of it but not all of it... even for that, krishna helped him understand that it was not needed...

  • i got the book it is epic

  • @davidcintor : cool...... i would love to see it...

  • aw they've made it 3D :'( Maharbata: the Clone Wars anyone? :S

  • There is something akin to Jesus done in comic books. Do a search for "Preacher Comics" or better still, look up the "God-Emperor of mankind" - that is as close to Jesus as you would probably get but on a slightly different tangent (i'll let you figure out the tangent, its quite interesting to say the least)

  • Stupidity of Indian ppls is letting white skin ppls experiment on such a epics. these are not merely books but treasure of characters which stores beautiful message for humanity. May be thousands years later Grant Morision books would be worshiped by billions of Hindu. can they dare to make a single on Jesus just like that? they won't a big bamboo from vatican is always ready.

  • Not just the Mahabharata bt any Indian mythology is being f**cked up by white skin peoples. It has becm an fashion in name of "Something new" they misinterpreted our precious epics and launch it in markt. If they are such a creative why don't they 1st experiment with Jesus's story? portray him having 3-4 gal frends and doing a sarkari naukri?? Or flying space craft fighting with XYZ civilization? and gullible who are seeing this stupid things are ready to clap any time.

  • @rajivkuin Exactly. I don't think this work is meant to be in anyway offensive. The Hindu mythology is epic in its scope. I think this work is respecting the spirit of the work.

  • @Phillies64 :Fair enough phillies... i think the whole hindu mythology is worth being picturised in star war fashion... its amazing stories are at par with any lord of the ring or harry potter... i am very religious hindu brahmin and i see nothing wrong in these tales coming in such glorified manner.... like you said as long as it stays true to the spirit of work...

  • @havoc40000 You're joking right? First of all, I'd totally watch a movie with Jesus wielding a lightsaber. Secondly, there have been tons of movies were Jesus was portrayed in a different light. Jesus Christ Super Star for example. I don't find it offensive as long as it stays true to the spirit of the work.

  • Awesome I can't wait. I think it is cool to see how people actually interpret the text in different ways. And we can see that it is still relatable in modern times.
