The answers to last week's question, why online video SEO is so important and 3 simple tips to help you improve your online video SEO. Welcome to JT Show where you will discover the latest in online video marketing news and some sneaky secrets to help you get more views, likes, subscribes and sales. I'm JT and let's get on with the news
Bright Cove and Tube Mogul released their quarterly reports for online video. A surprising discovery was made that, against the recent trend of growth, the amount of traffic to videos found through Facebook had actually dropped.
Does this mean that Facebook is not a good way to promote your video? Not really. What it could mean is that people are just getting more bit selective with the videos they watch that have been posted on Facebook.
This reinforces the idea that content is king on the internet and it also emphasises the importance of doing online video SEO as Google still refers the vast majority of online video traffic. Now it's time for the sneaky marketing secret
Following from that piece of news, this week's sneaky marketing secret is going to be about online video SEO. I learned this week's secret from one of Matt Ballek's videos and you can check it out by clicking on the link in the description below. Here are three things that I learned from this video about online video seo.
The first thing is that content is king - you need to make sure that your video has evergreen content. What this means is that it is about something that people will want to watch time and time again. Something that is timeless and will be as relevant to your audience now as it will be in the future.
Second, you need to realise that people search differently when it comes to online video. The example Matt uses is that when you type in WNBA into Google you will receive suggestions for stuff like Salaries, teams or players... however if you type WNBA into YouTube you'll get suggestions for stuff like dunks, fights and brawls instead.
The best way to find out what people are searching for on YouTube is of course by using YouTube Keyword Research Tool. You can check it out by clicking on the link in the description below:
You can research keywords or phrases or even enter in the URL of your competitors' videos just to see what keywords and phrases they've been using to optimise their video.
The third thing is that YouTube Playlists appear in search results and you can create playlists of your videos and optimize them for the same keywords. And I thought this was brilliant - such a quick and simple way to get more traffic to your videos. And now it's time for the question of the week.
This Week's Question is "What sort of videos do you share with your friends on Facebook?" Your answers can serious or absurd, let's be as original as we can! Here are the answers to last week's question
Justin, thx for the tip on Playlist. Just checked out your channel and found there're a lot of useful info. Definitely, I'll subscribe to it. What I like the most of your videos is there are transcripts which is extremely convenient for people who is not used to your accent like me from N. America. I'd suggest to load them to your videos. Simply put them in text files and upload. Youtube will do the timeline part for you. Some said it'll help on ranking. Feel free to check out my channel too.
