@datingsas You can make a good test to see what I mean, if you have a suitable thermometer you can put him in contact with the heatsink and see.
Do two tests, one with the ps3 controlling the fan and another with the fan at faster rate.
There will be differences but at some point the heat will be the same. Or there will be no difference at all because the heat sink is dissipating the heat at good rate

@datingsas air absorbs the heat, otherwise the heat will be locked in the heat sink, increasing the airflow to the heatsink will cause heat to be dissipated more quickly to a certain time. After that the heat dissipation will be stabilized.
What i mean is, no matter how fast air passes through the sink. If the sink does not dissipate heat fast enough will be useless to increase the fan speed.

@TelecentroElisa its actually smart

@datingsas the 80 gb i have i keep it covered to keep dust out and put a fan on it on hot days. Its been going good for about 3 years now. I had to replace it once because of the blue ray burning out.

@markothevrba The instructions are very clear, you also have live chat and email support, nobody has ever messed up there PS3 as you are saying. Voiding your warranty is something you would do on your own under your own will. Nobody is forcing you to void your warranty. If your warranty is already done as you only get one year it is a good idea to install this mod to prevent future breakdown.
Just to clarify one thing, higher speed doesnt mean better cooling, just think about this, if you increase air flow, the air there will not have enough time to absorve the heat. At the worst case you will end up with a loud fan and same temperature.

@guifrizzera2005 Air does not absorb heat,it moves it away from the heatsink. The heatsink absorbs the heat from the chip, then it needs to go somewhere, increased AIR movement will move the heat away faster and make it cooler. If you run and there is no air movement you will become hotter faster, if there is a wind you will be cooler. Works the same way as a RADIATOR and FAN, the more air you move thru the rad the cooler the fluid within it will be. Common sense really.
