MSTCs Urban Forestry Technician program is truly unique. Youll find rewarding jobs wherever you go with an MSTC degree in this exciting field. The Urban Forestry program prepares students for careers in Urban Forestry and Landscape Management. Skills learned include fundamentals of pruning, plant healthcare, tree planting and maintenance, plant identification, risk tree assessment and landscape management.
Additional skills include plant identification, plant healthcare, hazard tree assessment, tree preservation, landscape installation and tree maintenance plans. The Wisconsin Pesticide Certification Exam is given in class.
An aerial component is included in the curriculum for students who are physically and mentally capable of ascending a tree. Elective courses include a series of aerial tree pruning and rigging courses. These classes feature rope and saddle techniques along with bucket truck operation to prune trees of all sizes.
The Urban Forestry Technician program is offered at the Wisconsin Rapids campus.
