I love the part with:
"The Doors." -"The Who." - "The Doors!"

@marysw brilliant observation, and his high school journo teacher as well.

i love that nick gets so frustrated that he calls the interviewer a cunt. lesson, do your fucking homework when you have to interview anyone. and he gets pissy with them at the end. " i don't know that we learned anything", nope- i don't know that you did, jackass.

such a disaster of an interview.... but fucking hilarious!
-
"Where in Australia are you guys from?"
"Right about where the aboriginals dick is."

hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!
!!!! shut the fuuuuuuuuuuck up interview man! -
Wow the interviewer just will not shut up. It's like he's trying to impress his Philosophy 101 professor.

He wasn't prepared & sounded like he had some personal issues he wanted to draw Nick & Blixa, Barry into. Nick Cave was a tough interview back then, once he lost him he wasn't going to get him back!
I like that interviewer. If Nick and the band had ANY respect for anyone at that time they wouldnt have let him go nowhere with every question. But that was their tactic: being the ultimate asshole and let everybody jump into the -their void. I know, cuse I lived with them ..

Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it. I can't fault the band for being put off at the man's confrontational attitude and choice of topics. Deep philosophical questions cannot be taken seriously in this setting. Nick tried to answer until it spun out. I'm an anthropolgist, fwiw, trained to conduct interviews in all kinds of settings. This is a disaster. The interviewer bears full responsibility for the outcome. If things go sour, it is due to your manner, questions, & lack of preparation.

Ah, good to see you getting into part 2! A small reminder that you are watching a vintage interview from the first Bad Seeds tour of America, complete, and in good condition. In terms of memorabilia, this is highly valued, particularly since all of the band members end up on camera. A unique window into the past . I'm glad I was able to share. As for the interviewer, well, it wouldn't be quite as hilarious without his attitude and inane questions. Overall, I love the comments, folks. :D

I agree! A rare glimpse into their first American tour before Blixa was fluent in English. The best ensemble comedy begins in this part. Nick leaves when the guy asks if Blixa's ever worked, calling him a c*nt under his breath. Blixa says, "maybe around 1968 on school holidays". He would have been 9 years old! :-) When Barry Adamson joins it becomes a tag team effort in verbal sparring. Nick's response to the final question: "what do think of America" is worth the price of admission.
