Recovery of the body of a hiker, who slipped off the Ledges section of the Longs Peak, just after Key Hole, on Sept 25, 2010, in Rocky Mountain National Park. Very unfortunate and sad accident , 3rd death on Longs peak in 2010

  • ugh there has to be no worse job than body recovery

  • @jhhwingnut BTW......the narrows are just as bad or worse......let me say....neither are all that difficult when dry....hundreds of people climb Longs every summer......just need to be careful when the terrain dictates !!

  • The "ledges" on Longs peak are to be respected and carefully transversed.....and they are treacherous when wet or icy......which is the case very often except for a couple months a year, they can also be treacherous even in the middle of August if they get any rain after dark, the rain freezes at nite and can be deadly most the next day because they are often in the shadows most the next day, if the rangers say Longs is a "technical climb" above the "Keyhole" believe it !!!
