marceboy73, were you an engineer? It takes longer than 90 seconds to come to a stop. The water is to improve the specific impulse of the engine to give more thrust needed if the aircraft is fully loaded in the hover. I've seen them at displays going for longer and they've got to go off and land somewhere too, vertically.

i went to that airshow and that thing is like loudest plane you will ever hear
-
yeah forget true lies, the engine would sieze up and plunge into the ground.
-
Poor footage, because camera does not capture the terrain in the frame, so there is no relationship of the aircraft to any fixed point, so the aircraft's impressive (and fuel intensive) ability is not illustrated.

VTOL is loud as fuck.

90 seconds tops. I should know, I work with them.

Actually, the water serves two purposes, 1 it acts as a ballast for the plane; 2 it is injected onto the turbine portion of the engine for added thrust; as the water vaporizes, it expands causing added pressure aft of the turbine, the old J-57 has a similar water system

Harriers inject water around the engine to keep the heat down and the it can hover for that time because of that, otherwise the engine would overheat very quickly.

learn to use videocamera before.... :)

Info was posted about the 2007 airshow already in the Dayton paper. I linked to it on my blog. There is a search box in the top right corner.
