its a great app, unfortunatly, can't get it to work on my sony Bravia, I watched another video, says that I can pick a model number close to my model for remote, I did that, still didnt work, any suggestions, I appreciate any help, thanks

There are ways to record remotes. E.g. with Lirc via a laptop's IR receiver or via an external IR (trans)ceiver. Not possible, AFAIK, with an N900.
Scroogle or whatever is your friend if you haven't got the gear.

same as below. Irreco backend error. i try to 'sudo /etc/init.d/lirc start' but it brings back 'config file contains no valid remote control definition' please help.

Should be fixed now.
Also, since the development of Irreco has been (and will be, I'm afraid) very quiet recently, we'd suggest N900ers to have a look at QtIrreco. Search YouTube for "QtIrreco for N900 tutorial".
