The impossible texting & driving test

More and more traffic accidents are due to texting. If we want to reduce the 1.2 million traffic victims worldwide each year, we have to act. How do you convince youngsters not to text while driving? Prove them it is a very bad idea: oblige them to text while driving! See how Belgian learner drivers reacted when they were told they had to pass the mobile phone test in order to get their driver's license.

Arguing in the car to the point of distraction comes under driving without due care & attention, is definitively illegal & will cost you up to nine points on your licence if they catch you.

Actually a scientific study showed that arguing in the car is THE MOST dangerous distraction, far beyond texting, make-up, eating. etc. Are we going to ban arguing in a car now too?

That's because they totally take their eyes off the road. I do not. You look at tiny things all the time in the car. The numbers on the radio station, a gps map, some food your putting in your mouth. Don't blame texting. It's just that most people have no concentration. They allow themselves to become totally distracted.

You are wrong, JJ Cajun. People who do stupid things like text messaging kill more people than those who don't do stupid things by observing safe driving habits. In fact, before people engaged in text messaging, accident fatality was due to people either being drunk or on drugs. In fact the reason why most teen drivers continue to die is that they are doing the things they shouldn't be doing in the first place.

Viper, then you don't deserve to drive a car. In fact texting does not save time. It also requires that you focus on the device you are using in order to press the tiny keys on your cell phones. In fact most deaths are due to texting while driving because that person is spending more time looking at the keypad than focusing on the road in front of them. I am so sorry that you completely lack the understanding on how text messaging does to you.

Viper, don't be an idiot. You don't have the common sense left in your head that sending text message is a bad and risky habit and it doesn't matter how good you are. In fact you may not be fortunate enough to experience the unexpected the next time you try to send text messages to your friend while driving. In fact it is against the law to be sending text messages on your phone while driving a vehicle.  So please, in the future, learn how to use your judgement.

You know nothing about driving. You are stupid to understand that girls are better drivers than those who continue to send text messages. And the same also applies to men who text while driving as opposed to those who don't send text messages. If people weren't allowed to send or receive text messages on the phone, the accident wouldn't happen. In fact the cell phones should NOT be used at all while driving. The cell phones should be only used in situations when the person is NOT driving.
