While I'm changing songs from the key of G, I might as well do Johnny Cash's (actually written by June Carter) Ring of fire.

Oddly, when he performed this song live, he played it in G# ("G sharp" for you noobs), and in the Walk The Line movie it is done in A, so WHY THE HELL did he record it in G? Why did he switch? Did he later on admit that G sounds retarded for all songs? Maybe.

By the way, don't you notice how Green Day ripped it off in Jesus of Suburbia, 6:40 - 8:12? LOL, I like Green Day, but there's paying homage, and then there's completely ripping off.

To me, G sounds retarded. G# has a sad sound to it. And A has a happy sound to it.

  • are you able to tell the keys just by ear? or do you use some type of computer software? there are a few songs that have weird key changes and i have yet to figure them out

  • Most of the time I can tell it by ear. If I can't then I have to go to the guitar and figure it out.

  • @rrdoran once you figure out the root chord it's easier, through chord progression, to figure out the rest. typical country root chords are G(C,D), E(A,B7), A(D,A,E) ETC...

  • ohhhh yesss i love it
