Here I show how to turn your desktop into a host where people can download your files. You will need them to connect to your IP Address (i.e ftp://12.34.56.78) to get the files.
If you change from ftp://127.0.0.1 to ftp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (your own IP address) then Windows firewall will block the connection.
Solve this with the following section "Setting up FileZilla Server with Windows Firewall" in
http://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Network_Configuration
Also, a free DNS is available at http://www.dyndns.com to resolve your IP address into something more intelligent.

  • @Classicnovaguy Yep, if you do not know your own IP address and want to use it in any program, you can use loopback address 127.0.0.1

  • @mbilalbhatti Synonym ti the ip address eh? idk about that... Loop back address, yes.

  • Anyone who is confused or got any question, just ask here. I will try to answer that.

  • @iXYourNameHereXi It is simple, every PC has a private IP address. Just type "ipconfig" in command prompt to find that IP address. 127.0.0.1 is a synonym to your private IP address.

  • @BFitzProductions Yes you need to forward ports if you want someone on internet to upload/download file from ur local PC.

  • @EFRENURENAG Use your public IP for it. You must set port-forwarding option in your router. For detailed chat, find me on Skype: mbilalbhatti
