The succession of the presidency in Egypt is a sensitive subject but nevertheless widely discussed, as Hosni Mubarak approaches his 30th year in power.

There has been widespread speculation that Gamal Mubarak, the president's son, will take over, but there is also strong opposition to such a scenario.

Recently, high-profile figures have hinted at their interest to stand for election in 2011.

One of them is Amr Moussa, the Arab League secretary-general.

Some say Moussa was pushed out of his previous job as Egypt's foreign minister because of his popularity.

Al Jazeera's Amr El-Kahky reports from Cairo.
