The Allegro Youth Orchestra has embarked on a number of innovative projects that combine this classical string orchestra with jazz and rock artists. While far from abandoning their classical roots, the orchestra is discovering that their performances are enhanced through these collaborative efforts. The Allegro Youth Orchestra is noted for their mature sound, and it has become a driving force in arts education in the Hudson Valley. The Times Herald Record most recently called Allegro ".. one of our areas most celebrated groups." On Sunday, March 18th (2007), AYO will join forces with new partners in a rather different artistic direction.
Pan.a.ce.a is a four-piece rock band from central Pennsylvania that perform their own original, high-energy music. Their compositions create interesting textures that accentuate their thoughtful, melancholy, lyrics and melodies with driving, and often unexpected, timing and structure. Combined with punctuated, rhythmic, orchestral string-orchestra scoring by Viktoras Prizgintas, the combined efforts of AYO and Pan.a.ce.a provide the most notable and innovative efforts for the arts in our region -- both classical and popular. The project already has generated great interest and can be previewed on YouTube. Simply log onto YouTube's site and type "Allegro Orchestra Pan.a.ce.a."
The founder and current director of AYO, Viktor Prizgintas, recently stated: "I truly believe that bringing the classically trained student into the world of popular culture has its benefits," he explained. "Ultimately, we have only two forms of music; good and bad. Understanding the basic elements, using them creatively, and presenting them in a dynamic fashion, will infuse more innovation and energy into the process. It is there, at each rehearsal, that you begin to witness and experience the true excitement in creating music with the Allegro Youth Orchestra through such new projects."
Together, AYO and Pan.a.ce.a define "cutting edge" in the performing arts. Juxtaposing the sound of classically trained string students with the raw, dark, gothic, sounds of Pan.a.ce.a creates a unique bond through which Prizgintas' original orchestral scores are able to challenge conventional wisdom and ears.

This is simply one of the best collaborative efforts I have heard opn YouTube. I can't locate another sample of alternate rock sounds mixed with a classical string orchestra, nor would I have never conceived such a concept, and yet it sounds so natural. Well, indeed its Devine!
