This is my tribute to an amazing meerkat, Monkulus Whiskers.
Monkulus (known as Maybelline on Meerkat Manor) was born into the Whiskers on February 22, 2004. Her parents were Flower and Yossarian.
After her mother Flower's death, Monkulus' older sister Rocket Dog became the new dominant female of the Whiskers.
The group grew quite large under Rocket Dog's control, as several females had pups. One day, while the Whiskers were out foraging, the group split in two, and the splinter group never rejoined the Whiskers, instead becoming a new group, the Aztecs.
Unlike what was shown on Meerkat Manor, this split was accidental. Monkulus did not deliberately separate the group, but she was one of the meerkats in the new group and began to compete with the other females in the group for the role of dominant female.
Although she was the oldest female, she was less assertive than her mother Flower or sister Rocket Dog had been, and it took her 3 months to become dominant female.
But as time went by, she proved her worth. She was very skilled at protecting her pups from infanticide, and to my knowledge has not lost a single pup in this manner. She was also very effective at evicting any females who could potentially overthrow her, evicting them before they had a chance to try and therefore maintaining her position as dominant female.
I have wanted to make a Monkulus tribute for some time now, to honor a truly great meerkat. When she first became dominant female, I thought she wouldn't be a very strong leader, as she had a lot of difficulty establishing dominance over females considerably younger than her. But she proved me completely wrong. After her slow start, she became one of the most formidable leaders in the Kalahari. This tribute is to honor her accomplishments and to acknowledge how badly I misjudged her.
Having now led the Aztecs for over 4 years and had over 30 pups in that time, all the while successfully preventing any subordinate females from having pups of their own, I will openly admit that I consider Monkulus to be one of the greatest dominant females to have ever lived in the Kalahari.

Monkulus is truly a great dominant female. She's been dominant female for 4 years now. I hope she stays the female for many years to come. Thanks for the video VialliForever.

It's great to see a lovely tribute to the Monk'. :D Seven years old and four years of being the Aztec Queen - she's up to her mother's standard! I hope she continues her reign for many years to come. Best of luck Monkulus/Maybelline!
As for this videos; it's quite fitting and really sweet. I'd say it's one of your best so far. c:

@FlowerWhiskers111 You're welcome :)
Monkulus is a favourite of mine as well. I'm glad I've finally made a video for her. She really is a talented dominant female.
I love Rascal Flatts too, and I thought this song suited Monkulus. She couldn't be dominant in the Whiskers so she moved on and found a new home.
