Dean Jagger received two Emmy nominations for his portrayal of Principal Albert Vane.
Jagger was excellent as the principal of the high school. I have not seen an episode with Burgess Meredith as the principal.
As spacepartrolman alluded to, many of the problems faced by Mr. Novak, the other teachers and the principal in the early 1960s would seem quite mundane if the show aired today.
