Crosspicking over chords

I'd hate to turn into one of the typical YouTube troll creeps who has nothing but bad things to say about a video. But I can't keep quiet about this vid.
Beginners: please DON'T try to use this video to learn crosspicking. I don't think you can even get an accurate idea of what crosspicking IS from this video.
Concentrate on learning and mastering alternate picking. Then, once you are accomplished, you'll already know how to crosspick. Later, you can add some other crosspicking patterns.

When crosspicking use alternating picking or economy picking(down, down up)
don't do all down unless you're sweeping.
You want consistency in you technique, especially if you are trying to teach.
When you get the technique mastered, go ahead and mix it up and use both, when it is more comfortable in a given context.
Keeping it strait alternating will be the easiest to master. Your right hand will be consistent.
Just my opinion.

Worthless. Your words and playing don't often match. Keep your day job.

It's a BEGINNER lesson on flatpicking folks...
You can clearly see what's going on in the video. If you have a learning diasbility use a freeze frame. If you're already advanced enough to know what's wrong with the lesson, give yourself a BIG pat on the back. Well done!

Then it's how you would play a regular chord?
This is really confusing.

you say up/down alternating but your pick strokes are all over the place. Folks watching this should stick with alternating up/down/up/down. Others like Rice might use a down/down/up pattern but most don't recommend this

down down up up down ?? w t f?? all over the place

it's like sweep picking but you let it ring?
the art of getting the flatpick in a roll has a lot to do with slowing down and figuring out what the heck you trying to play before you try and teach someone. what is going on in this video???? why was there nothing said about placement of up or down stroke's??? when you slowed down the so called mixed pattern it was all down stroke's, how do you do that up to speed?? i dont get it
