Time-lapse video from the ISS on Jan. 30, 2012. These sequences of frames were taken at the rate of one frame per second, therefore the slower speed of the video more closely represents the true speed of the International Space Station than previous videos.
This video was taken by the crew of Expedition 30 on board the International Space Station. The sequence of shots was taken January 30, 2012 from 06:13:36 to 06:23:09 GMT, on a pass from northern Mexico to northwest New Brunswick. This video begins looking northeast over Texas, where cities like San Antonio, Houston, and the Dallas/Fort Worth area can be seen. Continuing northeast over the Great Plains states, cities like Oklahoma City, Kansas City, and St. Louis can be easily distinguished. The pass continues over the familiar shape of the Michigan Peninsula, with Chicago at the south edge of Lake Michigan. As the ISS continues northeast, the Aurora Borealis can be seen over Canada.

TO ALL THE RUFFLED SOULS WHO REJECT THE "REAL TIME" CLAIM: the following is updated description from the Image Science Lab at Johnson Space Center --->
"PLEASE NOTE: Some of these sequences of frames were taken at the rate of one frame per second, therefore the slower speed of the video represents a CLOSER resemblance (capitalization mine) to the true speed of the International Space Station than previous videos."
Hope this helps settle everyone down enough to enjoy the footage from space.

This can't be true speed! The video shows ISS going from California to Buffalo New York in about 30 seconds when it should take about 8-9 minutes. New York to California is "about" 2400 miles and ISS travels at orbital velocity which is "approximately" 17,000 miles per hour which means it should take "about" 14% of an hour which equals 8.47 minutes = 508 seconds!

Well he has a point.
If it's not real time it shouldn't be titled as such.

At 0:11 you can see most of Texas, except for the edges. Lubbock is visible along with Midland-Odessa.
