The Bay Area's "I've Never Been To Brisbane" performs Jerome Kern's timeless tune during their "Downtown Sounds" concert series performance in October 2007. INBTBrisbane plays all over the place...come see us at a fine restaurant or club near you and we'll critique the wine list together!

  • it sounds awsome!!

    is that a Santana song???

  • Glad you liked it! "All the Things You Are" was written by Jerome Kern in around 1930 (though it's unclear exactly when; it wasn't released until 1939, when Oscar Hammerstein added the beautiful lyrics). Check out some other artists doing it - "ATTYA" is thought by some to be the finest of jazz standards, and it's been subject to plenty of unique and creative re-working. Thanks for listening!

  • wow what a fusion, two of my fave genres (asides metal) just be careful with the place you guys play in, church is a holy place, but u guys got talent though

  • Thanks ODIRocks, for the kind words. The church offers their space for what they call the "Downtown Sounds" series, and serves as a fundraiser for them. It's an older church, and the acoustics are really amazing so the bands love it. Also, regardless of denomination, all the bands are totally respectful of the spritual environment.

We're just proud and thankful to have been asked to perform. Feliz Navidad!

  • rad!! love it.....are you in a church? that's sort of...wrong...heee heeee....great version.....

  • Yep, we sure were in a church, expecting to burst into flames when we played The Abyssinians' "Y Mas Gan", but it seems the (wo)man upstairs likes the jazz/roots thing. The concert series is held there because the church is known to have the best acoustics around...and we agreed!

    Thanks,

    INBTBrisbane

  • sounds great, refreshing sound. get a a mother playin keys and it would sound much fuller

  • wicked!

you guys should try Waltz for Debby or My Bells

by Bill Evans and reggae/jazz those songs up.

    paz.

  • Davvero forti, complimenti!

  • Thanks very much! Yes, the chords are very true to the original, though you may know the intro and outro were added later to what became the "jazz standard" version of this Jerome Kern masterpiece.

As for tempo, the nice thing about this song is that it can be done lightning fast or at a crawl, and it still is a beautiful tune...we like this pace as it's a real "four on the floor" reggae beat - listen to what Todd is doing on drums, and that helped determine why we dig this tempo. Thanks!

  • Very well done this could not have been done if you guys didn't know what you were doing. Did you just change the rhythm because the chord progressions of the intro and the song itself sound the same or a least very similar. Very good usually I can't handle guitar players but when they got some real talent and skill that's a whole nother story I'll definitely send this to my friends.
