This song is, as 'Iskarin' says, often deemed to be a send-up of Handel, but it reminds me more of Arne than of Handel. That notwithstanding, it's a great song. Sullivan was a very clever an indeed; I wish I'd met him!

I love this song, Its so stupid since theyre about to go into battle and he's saying how he doesnt need all this armour but its so well done that only G&S can pull it off :)

We were the first company from Canada to ever participate in the UK G&S Festival in 2001, when we performed Iolanthe, and we went back again in 2006 with Princess Ida. :)
