too call it a "cobra" is a bit of a stretch, they are practising how too get out of a superstall, something that came from a design flaw.
the best comparison ive heard was while the Su-27 is "drifting with style" the Draken is "trying not too slide youre backheavy sedan off the road on an icy surface"
I agree on all your points. This fuss was started by an Austrian Saab Draken pilot, if I remember correctly. Austrian air forces could not use A-A missiles by law as late as the 90's. Drakens were only recently replaced by only few EFA Typhoons. Do the math. :)
So now we know why all of scandinavia was wildly scared of the "cobra" manoeuver. When our forces were flying the Drakens. Bar us Finns of course, as we had some MiG21:s as well, and they were about as manouverable as a dart. Only there to get high enough.
What do you mean "You Finns"? Those we see in the video are Sk35C's of Airwing F10, Ängelhom Sweden. Two-seater trainers; converted A-models. I know those beauties personally because I did my conscription at F10, as a mechanic. ;)
Check out YouTube vid jqiDEcfSnXs to see the first part were they start and take off. I can even tell you exactly where J88 is starting from. Feed the position 56°17'18.80"N, 12°50'47.20"E into Google Earth or Google maps, and you have the starting location. ;)

It's got something to do with the wing design in turn with the body. That, and the people who supposedly designed it were possessed by demons.
Draken took to the skies in 1955. It remained there for over 40 years. If anything the youngsters have watched and learned. ;)
