  • Tabouleh recipes vary throughout Libnaan, region to region, family to family. In the Wets Indies we Lebanese have also added our own local touches to it, in addition to what you describe. We use allspice, sumac, and a few pieces of finely chopped habanero pepper. We don't use onion...only green onion. As a matter of fact I have never seen onion chopped up and put in Tabouleh in all the places I have visited in Lebanon. Guess this must be a family recipe.

  • jamaboy44, sorry to get back late to your message! your recipe additions sound great..thank you for sharing. i add onions because this is my mom's recipe..so it must be a family recipe after all :)

  • The directions said to add cucumber but the ingredient list didn't mention cucumber. Please advise.

  • I sometimes add cucumbers to it and other times i don't. Some people do not add cucumbers at all because it is high in water content and it might make the taste a bit bland. it is all about your personal preferences. You can always have cucumbers on the side to be eaten with it. romaine lettuce or white cabbages are used to scoop the tabbouleh with too.
