I dug out some of my old Maher Workshop / Craig Lovik Ventriloquist Figure Catalogs to share with you. These Catalogs range from the mid 70's to the early 80's .. Craig Lovik was the only figure maker that I knew of back in the1970's. I think I must have had at least 4 or 5 of Craig's figures over several of my young vent years. I think before Craig took on the Maher Workshop name.. He was known as 'Story Teller Studios' ? I hope you enjoy this clip. Please let me know if you do. Thanks !!

  • I took the Maher course in the late 1970s, after ordering a cheap plastic figure. I never performed in public, but liked to read my Newsy Vent newsletter, and dream of attending a convention. I remember writing them a letter about sound substitutes, and they sent back an encouraging reply. The Maher studio also offered muppet-like puppets, and I still have mine, a girl with blonde pigtails I call Rosie. Thanks for the memories!

  • @missusmoon That's very cool .. Glad I could help you with that trip down memory lane ! I still have my collection of Newsy Vents ! And I'm planning on attending this years Ventriloquist ConVENTion too ! Thanks for watching my clip ..

  • I like comical clyde.

  • @midgetman11215 Hey .. Glad your enjoying these old Vent Catalog characters !

  • I love the pics of the dummies, I did not know that they have a stick-out-tongue. I like the catologs. What's left and right kicker?

  • @Pupepepets It's a lever on the inside of the body .. connected to the leg or legs .. when pushed.. it would cause the legs to move .. OK .. !

  • Dirk when did you start doing ventriloquism and what type of puppet did you have ps when did you start making money for performances? And is that your only job?

  • Hiya: Enjoyed seeing the catalogues. I have Lovik figure, circa 1970 - and I always wondered what Andy's maker looked like. Thank you for providing that . See you in 2012!

  • Hey. That is pretty darn cool. I recently Bought a craig lovik figure from ebay. Well still waiting for it to arrive from the USA. Apprently his name is Ernie but i dont have any way of looking to know if its his real name. Thru your catalogue Ernie looks like one were it says Nudger. Actaully looking thru your video with detail i see him. His name is Archie. its in the maher workshop catalogue on the first page as you open it. Wow. I want more details
