In 1990 performing show flight in Italy died famous at that time Lithuanian test pilot Rimantas Stankevičius. He was real pretender to become first cosmonaut from my country. http://lt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rimantas_Antanas_Stankevi%C4%8Dius

  • this lithuanian pilot was near to his dream to become a cosmic pilot... had left some more training and he would be a russian army cosmic pilot... but there wasnt his fault of this crash... manufacturer`s fault..

  • it's say that he didn't ejected because plane was heading to crowd or to those house area, he wanted turn plane from it and to protect innocent people. Sadly there was no time to eject.

  • Rimantas could have decided to eject himself and leaving the plane to crash in the crowd, but He didn't...and We italians will never forget this...God bless You Rimantas, We'll always have gratitude for the heroic action that You did.

  • The pilot lost his consiousness?I had seen the pilot before he was killed in the film. Why he did not turn on catapulta?Sorry,i can't speak english.(

  • we were also feeling that the climbing after the runway was too slow, the engines replys to the input with lots of delay...and then he closed the loop and we still don't know why, maybe looking at the runway he thought he was higher and so quite safe for a loop, but wasn't that! anyway replying to "rogius", the plane had not to make that loop on the display, he was not heading to the crowd, he didn't ejected because he had simply no time to realise ho low he was

  • hi all, i'm an italian man, and i was present there that day, even the saturday before, when i saw the Flanker training for the display. I can say that both days, we had the impression that the pilot was quite unable to find the airport (it's little 900M grass runway), and that it was one of his first experience on a short field. Also we noticed immediatly that during the saturday display he concluded the half loop with a roll, but that didn't happened the day of the show.
