@vanillagrl1 Actually when you buy liquid soap it does contain glycerin, because they make it by directly saponifying oils with KOH solution. It doesn't pay for them to recover the glycerin separately as when they make solid soap, so the glycerin is left in there in the liquid product. Of course you may think that's not enough glycerin.

I agree on the bubble factor. This definitely not a bubble bath. And I am not sure if I would use this on a toddle, with more hair. My baby doesnt have hair so I just wash his head with wash cloth.

@goodmaro Because soap directly wouldnt have the glycerin, which softens skin, or the essential oils. I would have to mix all of this, giving my baby a bath. I give my baby a bath 2 times a day, so for me I'll use this up in a week. I used to put a few drops of essential oil, baby shampoo and then mix up the water. This way I hold my baby and mix up the water with one hand. Maybe because my baby is smaller that I find this so convenient.

@vanillagrl1 But I still don't understand why you don't just use the soap directly. That way you don't need distilled water and don't have preservation issues. (Keeping highly diluted soap is an invitation to bacteria.) If the liquid soap is too concentrated to use conveniently directly, you might want to dilute it a little, but not to such a high dilution as in the video. You might not put much water over the face deliberately, but in shampooing it will happen anyway.

@goodmaro Good point but also you dont put much water over babies face to begin with. So the sting factor isnt a huge concern, yet. I'll be using this (or burt bee's unscented wash) on my baby (who takes bath in sink still)

OK, except it will be a high eye-sting shampoo, and no improvement over using the soap directly, or bar soap. As to bubble bath, in most waters it's not practicable for an actual bathtub although it may work in a sink or bathinette -- but since when do babies care about bubble bath anyway? That's to keep older kids amused, and to prevent their bath soap from leaving a ring.

Yes you can add more glycerin or oil. Try adding a little Rosehip seed oil, as it's very effective in treating eczema.

Hi Sophie...I have your new book and just watched your baby shampoo and bath video and was wondering if I added more glycerin or oil, would that make it extra moisturizing for my daughters skin? Would you recommend something else instead? She's 4 years old and gets very dry skin-eczema on her arms where she bends at her elbows.
