Meet Barbara McDonnell, RN -- Breast Care Navigator

Barb McDonnell is Inova Loudoun Hospital's Breast Care Navigator. Barb has 32 years of nursing experience, spent mostly in Surgical Services, where she has cared for patients before, during and after surgery. Her background also includes clinical oversight of the Obstetrical Unit, Intensive Care Unit, and Outpatient Infusion and Transfusion Services. She feels strongly that nurses should be patient advocates, informing them and helping ease their stay with empathetic, compassionate care.

Inova Breast Care Institute's breast care navigators are available to ensure that women with a diagnosis of breast cancer receive quick access to the resources and care they need. Our breast care navigators are expert registered nurses with specialized training in breast cancer. With extensive knowledge of breast disease and the healthcare system, Inova's navigators guide patients and their families through the entire medical process, from diagnosis through treatment and recovery. Our navigators provide education, coordinate care, and serve as trusted resources for patients and their families.
