Greeting to the Canadian people. We are Anonymous.

Currently the Conservative, Stephen Harper government is trying introduce the "Investigative Powers for the 21st Century Act", also called the IP21C. This would allow Canadian law enforcement to obtain personal information about the web usage of Canadians without a warrant by demanding this information from internet service providers. It will expand police powers online without court orders, reintroducing controversial aspects of the Anti-Terrorism Act that expired in 2007.

The amendments would update section 342.2 of the Criminal Code in two ways: making it illegal to possess a "device" for the purposes of committing the offence of mischief and indicating that computer programs, such as viruses, NetTalk, or VPN's could now be considered as "devices."

We do not support governments or corporations that undermine the dynamics of a global Internet, Free knowledge, Or free speech. We believe in protecting in privacy and prosperity. We refuse censorship, inequality and corruption.

The act would enable law enforcement and intelligence agencies to create "back doors" for police interception, These new police powers would compel Internet Service Providers and Telecommunications Service Providers to produce this type of information upon demand and without a warrant. Policing agencies could track dialed numbers without a warrant and covertly remote activate devices to track cell phones and vehicles. Customers may never know if, or why, they were targeted.

Their provisions are is too broad and will lead to abuse by intelligence agencies much like the United States, China, Sweden, Germany or Libia. This is unacceptable.
The proposed laws have received widespread opposition from Members of Parliament, federal and provincial privacy commissioners as well as leading academics.

We believe that every Canadian should enjoy basic communication rights. Including freedom of expression, privacy and access to information online and off, without gatekeepers or discrimination. Media, telecommunications and information policy in Canada should be more transparent, with broader and more representative public participation.
To every Canadian citizen. We cannot turn a blind eye. Spread the word. Find out for yourself. Knowledge is free.

To Mr. Harper and the Conservative government, You cannot control the internet. We will fight back using all the tools at our disposal. We the Canadian people have had enough. We are watching you closely.

We are Anonymous.
We are Legion.
We do not Forgive.
We do not Forget.
Expect Us.
