Hey kids, do you know how a bill becomes a law? It's simple! It starts as an idea. Then members of Congress argue about whether it's good for the country or not. And then lobbyists buy whatever result they want. It's Democracy! Sort of.

  • All this reminds me of is that I saw this on an old episode of The Simpsons.

  • More Transparency vids please

  • Yeah if it wasn't for that, stuff might get worked out in favor of the people.

  • I saw a video like this in grade school :)

  • To all of you vouching for socialism or some other radical change, learn a thing or two about economic systems first. The capitalist system is not perfect, but it is by far and away the BEST system for creating economic growth and enhancing people's standard of living. Likewise, the US democratic system is not perfect either, but the people hold a position of power higher than the government. This is more than can be said of a great many countries.

  • I like how they said that the health care bill was killed by lobbyists and not because it was inherently a bad idea.

  • should be called "BAD: Lobbying"

  • bribery

  • @CarlosIsDown was not intended as an ad hom. Sorry if that's what you took from it. Just stating the obvious. Which for some reason some people need. You raised good questions and I have enjoyed our debate TY. Now if most people could be as civilized we might actually get some where in this country. LOL

  • @jsh78mang I know some people think differently than me. Most all people think differently than me. Are you trying to turn this into a personal attack, because I wasn't even going there.

As for representative democracy vs direct democracy, I wasn't going either way really, I was just raising what I thought were legitimate concerns.
