@blacbraun Yeah but the fun was to swig a pint down while it loaded a tape in...Then if it didn't load you could try again and again so that eventually when it did work you downed about 10 pints and was greatly pissed...Lol

I own every Microprose game (one of each of course) on C64, PC, Amiga and ST - excluding the arcade games,as I am a sim/strategy kind of guy, rather than a "twitch" player. It's why I never owned a console back in the day!!

Microprose, how I miss you. Thank you for all the good times, and thank you Wild Bill Stealey for all your grat sim games.

@blacbraun But yes, FINALLY getting enough cash together to get a disk drive was heaven on earth!!! and as you said it really did feel like technology from another planet :)
-
@blacbraun Well i am Australian not British and tape didn't need to be used for everything in Britain and Australia, there was always the option to buy a disk drive, the only problem was trying to afford one :( At the time my mother could only get me a tape drive.
-
@blade004 You Brits had it rough by being forced to use tape for everything on the c64. Disks must have been like magic technology from another planet LOL

HELL YEAH! This was one of my favs on my C64. Brings back memories when I would play this, F-14 Tomcat, Project Firestart, Defender of The Crown, Ultima 4, Legacy of the Acients and Bard's Tale 1-3 while on summer vacation in the 80s.
I used to play this game on my C64 back in '88!! I was only 10 then, but damn this brings back memories. I still remember the sound of "ride of the valkyries" when the game loaded.
Good times.
