I also had a collie mix,who knew all her toys by name. She would bring you which ever toy you would ask for. I think it was because I always talked to her as I would a person. She died 19 years ago and I still cry.

BTW, My previous comment is not related at all to the evolution talk. I just think wolves are way closer to dogs in intelligence than Nova gives them credit for.

What bothered me was they said that wolves don't get points. In a previous Nova episode, they established that wolves will not even begin to look to humans to solve problems. Why then would a wolf *care* if a human points? What they need to do is see if wolves use any form of muzzle pointing in nature, not try to get it to accept human points! (Not shown in this clip) THis is the closest I could find, if anyone knows where this is shown, I am curious if anyone else picked that up.

yes, evolution IS a theory, but gravity is also a theory. So if you don't beleive in theories, maybe you can float the fuck away.

@merthyrmafia The existence of cells is also just theory, but you wouldn't dispute that. Don't let your ignorance dictate your interpretation of the world, it makes you come off as pathetic.

Thanks for posting this clip. I know dogs are superior because they've figured out how to get us to take care of them. There is speculation that dogs show "intelligence" because we've bred them to more closely work with us, but humans are not exactly the best model for intelligence. Could it be that we've "dumbed" them down to our level and rewarded them with the smart label to make ourselves feel better?

ok thats a bit over the top.....lol

No what she's saying is Baddam please stop playing with yourself while the children are watching, because it's quite embarassing!
It'a a fact that dogs are more inteligent than the smartest primate, science have now proven this to be so, but most people have always known this to be so, they are the only animal who use facial recognition when looking at human beings to understand our emotions, they can communicate on a different level to any other animal.

Pt1. Humans are members of the group known as Superfamily Hominoidea (taxonomy) we are in the sub group Homo sapiens, this group is also shared with Homo heidelbergensis, Homo neanderthalensis, Homo erectus, Homo habilis, Pan troglodytes (chimpanzee), Pan paniscus (bonobo chimpanzee, taxonomists want to bring these into 'homo' reclassification is too messy so they have left them as Pan), lots of intermediates that sit between these groups and Australopithecus afarensis & Ardipithecus.

Pt2. The term Superfamily Hominoidea is better known as primates, can you confirm you are saying dogs are more intelligent than us? No doubts they are smart and have become mans best friend, no real surprise really since we artificially selected the breads we have from wolves however, to say they are smarter than Einstein/ Newton/Galilei/Darwin I find intriguing.

I have no problem with you saying you evolved from a Monkey, but dont think that everyone else believes in the evolution theory, and you can see that word THEORY, and that's what it is!

You said theory and thats what it is. Your ignorance has blinded you either that or you have no or little education in science. In the world of microbiology and all other scientific communities the term used 'Scientific Theory' provides a coherent explanation that holds true for a large number of facts and observations that we can test whether in a laboratory or in the natural world, in other words; can we test that we are apes ABSOLUTLEY! That is why we have ape genetics and retroviruses.

Cont.
Can we test we share a common ancestor with the chimpanzee (they are apes, my 6 yr old would also confirm this for you, its easy they have no tails) yes we can, search any medical publications for human chromosome 2 our ape chromosome, human endogenous reterovirals HERV-K (HML2) also HIV/SIV. I can supply full medical terms if you like
If you really want to understand where we came from study any parts of biology, genetics, microbiology, embryology, taxonomy, palaeontology, anthropology.
