Infinium Corporation distributed Chummy Code, its latest generation of barcode which uses blocks of color to store data.The Chummy Code can be manipulated to create a detailed image in conjunction with its information storing properties. The current generation of barcode, the 2 dimensional QR code also provides product information or website addresses. The main drawback of the QR code is that it can only be used in specific situations and since it is a detailed matrix of dots which displays no relative visual information. The Chummy Codes are used for making hotel and transport reservations on websites and by the Japanese government for a range of information services. With over 45 million compatible cell phones sold annually in Japan, Infinium Corporation believes there will be a dramatic increase in the use of Chummy Codes as an information transmission system over the next 2 years.
