I think you might have missed the point of the song... they are making fun of boy bands ...it's a bit like Minchin's F Sharp (sung a semitone off to make it hard to listen to)
but (to me) comparing Tripot to Tim Minchin is like the Umbilical brothers compared to Python both are musical but Tim is more clasical while tripod is more folk.
