  • In some cases, inconsistent boundaries can lead to recurring tantrums. Tantrums are typically a behavior issue while melt-downs are typically the result of over-stimulation or a stress-response to a situation that the child has no control over. It is critical to distinguish between the two as tantrums almost always require firmer boundaries while melt-downs require either avoiding the associated situation or providing the child with the appropriate skills to successfully handle the situation.

  • Sounds like to me these "melt-downs" are kids that just need a firm hand of an adult keeping their kids in line. Kids ruling the house and not the parents taking a stand and being the parents.
