The War in Iraq was supposed to be a war of liberation dominated by the American Government, however did it turn into something far from this, and what was the Neocons motives.
LOL, yes I voted for Bush. Did not like him much but the competition was a zero as well. Wow talk about misreading a sentence and going off the deep end. You must be daft or a neocon.
By Sunni backlash I meant "they wanted to regain control of the government as they had during Sadams time. Yes I am aware of the marsh arabs as well as the kurds who suffered. Which is why Sadr and his (Shia) thugs went for revenge against the Sunni and tried to expell them all or kill them. If you want a war with a country that has known nuclear weapons like Pakistan, I cannot even begin to think why you would call me "Daft" and a "Neocon". (And I was not for invading Iraq to begin with)
Rather Saddam's vendetta was distributed rather violently towards the Sheha population, and the Marsh Arabs-'research this'. Furthermore, why can't Pakistan be invaded?, the US did not get permission from Iraq when they decided to invade - this is simply outragious, and is now normal for Necons to make such daft remarks, as you just did. Any nation invading another doesn't get permission.. it just invades (non - authority action with an ultimatum).
gerry301, you seem to know nothing about Iraq, just like your war monger president, a.k.a Bush, who did not know between a Sunni and Sheha. 20% of the people did 'not' control the other 80%, rather it is the opposite way around - and I have an Iraqi neighbour who has seen your comments, and is thinking that this man has no understanding, and is in that sense a liar - just like the Neocon's.Furthermore, why would the Sunni's have a backlash, when Saddam (as a Sunni) made their conditions better.
Bin Laden set up camp in Afganistan, which is why after 9/11 the US invaded Afganistan. and destoryed the Al Quada training camps and the Taliban supporters. Pakistan cannot be invaded without permission from Pakistan. They are not an enemy country we are at war with. Pakistan has on several occasions tried to control the tribes in the mountains with limited success. Use "Google Earth" to try to locate where Osama is in the tribal areas of Pakistan and I will forward it on.
It is only a war of "Evil" if you are "evil" in your beliefs. The terrorists are clearly losing. (These are the ones who belive innocent civilians are a justified target). While the Iraqi s, US, and Brits are stopping the insugents as they arrive and killing the terrorists. I suppose Iraq was fine under Sadam if you understand that 20% of the people controled the other 80% brutally. That has changed and was the reason for the Sunni backlash.
You can expect the Iraqis to stand up another 30,000 this year as well. These are well trained troops and, I believe soon will take over the brundt of the fighting as US and British combat troops leave. The borders are being secured but the area is vast with most terrorists coming in from Syria from Saudi Arabia.
"What will we get if we stay the course". Hopefully a stable government and security for the Iraqi people. The Iraqi military has stood up another 30,000 during the time of our surge. "I don't think the Arabs can trust us, especially since the increase in terror attacks". The terror attacks are way down from last year, and the Sunnis who made many of them, have since turned away from violent confrontation to the political arena, rejecting Al Qaeda in the process.
It is now a war of evil versus no lesser evil. Iraq was going fine during Saddam's reign - even if he was a dictator, all the good reason because he maintained a firm control and killed the terrorists. The real country which the US should have been after was Pakistan, who I guarantee are right before our eyes hiding Osama Bin Laden, and training the new breed of Islamic terrorists, but this was impossible due to it being one of the odd nations the US decided to allie itself with.
what will we get if we stay the course, only more people dying. I don't think the Arabs can trust the US and Britain (vice versa) - especially since the increase in terror attacks, which was rear during Saddam (and you know it), all because the forces are allowing these monsters to come into the borders and attack. Instead of staying the course, would you not agree that the US need to now really train the Iraqi forces to combat these people that are clearly meriting intervention.
