Beware
Of young girls
Who come to the door
Wistful and pale
Of twenty and four
Delivering daisies
With delicate hands

Beware
Of young girls
Too often they crave
To cry
At a wedding
And dance
On a grave

She was my friend
My friend
My friend
She was invited to my house
Oh yes
She was
And though she knew
My love was true
And
No ordinary thing
She admired
My wedding ring
She admired
My wedding ring

She was my friend
My friend
My friend
She sent us little silver gifts
Oh yes
She did
Oh what a rare
And happy pair
She
Inevitably said
As she glanced
At my unmade bed
She admired
My unmade bed
My bed

Beware
Of young girls
Who come to the door
Wistful and pale
Of twenty and four
Delivering daisies
With delicate hands
Beware
Of young girls
To often they crave
To cry
At a wedding
And dance
On a grave

She was my friend
My friend
My friend
I thought her motives were sincere
Oh yes
I did
Ah but this lass
It came to pass
Had
A dark and different plan
She admired
My own sweet man
She admired
My own sweet man

We were friends
Oh yes
We were
And she just took him from my life
Oh yes
She did
So young and vain
She brought me pain
But
I?m wise enough to say
She will leave him
One thoughtless day
She?ll just leave him
And go away
Oh yes

Beware
Of young girls
Who come to the door
Wistful and pale
Of twenty and four
Delivering daisies
With delicate hands

Beware
Of young girls
To often they crave
To cry
At a wedding
And dance
On a grave

Beware of young girls
Beware of young girls
Beware

  • A bit prophetic considering what happened later with Farrow's adopted daughter and Woody Allen. Although, to be fair, that song would be called "Beware of lecherous old bastards."

  • My only fear of death is the music I never got to hear that I'll miss!

  • actually, a 3-record album telling about how the moon world feel on the loss of rocks after the nasa moonwalk . . .

  • does anyone remember "moon rocks" from (i think) a three story album?

  • @joeyrider I'm thankful that it resonated with you too. My resolution it to spend every waking moment of life filled with worthwhile pursuits, there's too much nonsense taking up precious time. Ultimately all we have are each other, the arts and philosophy! Be peaceful!

  • @SomethingReal1119 Its a sentiment I caught from somewhere and its truly staggering what we'll miss because we inhabit time and happened to be born in this era. I'm glad it resonated with you. You took it to another level with the soulmate idea, I mean the thought of my perfect half having lived or yet to be born is almost unbearable. Oh life, drink deep or taste not!

  • @Kobe29261 wow, what an interesting comment. i never thought of death that way, but you are absolutely right. there is so much music i will never hear before i leave this planet, so many books i will never read, so many ppl i will never meet (maybe a soulmate???), so many places i will never see.....and so on.....

  • @Kobe29261 most touching comment heard since long long time... thanks

    nce long time .. Thanks
