Aimé Barelli and his Orchestra with his wife Lucienne Delyle. A pity Barelli does not spend more time here playing the trumpet rather than "singing".

Lucienne Delyle recorded a version of Django Reinhardt's most famous compostion "Nuages" and Barelli recorded several times with Django as part of a big band.

  • mon oncle aimé était un grand homme

  • Merci!

  • My favorite song (that I spent 6 months learning) was "J'ai chanté sur ma peine", with the 2 very difficult, tongue-twister verses of récitatif, what a bitch that was to learn! But afterward I felt like I could handle anything. This woman had incredible musical gifts and was a genius of the torch song, reminding me so much of our own Helen Morgan. She was also stunning and the very definition of "gamine"! And also a real resistance fighter, as many had claimed to be and so few actually were.

  • Merci!
