I saw Ratdog twice last year, and they kicked ass. Almost as good if not better than when I seen the whole band. They were tight and jammed hard, not all spacey. Jerry was the man, but he had his demons, which effected some shows.

Jerry had such a unique style combining fingerpicking, flatpicking and banjo rolls on the guitar and that perfect tone which is a combination of the guitar and the fingers,etc. and played for so long that it will be hard for Warren Haynes to top it and he shouldn't have to.
Warren Haynes has a daunting task at hand but I am not expecting miracles.
He is a really good player and at the very least will be competent.

The issue with Bob singing Jerry's songs is that his phrasing is much different and seeing as Hunter wrote for Jerry's voice and range and Barlow for Bobby, it does not have the same feel.
I have to agree with briandrum1 about Warren singing Jerry tunes-he has a more lyrical quality to his voice.
Bobby should stick to his repetoire.
