For people who have not visited Switzerland, to get the context of Alpenhorns, and why the girl is placed alone on the mountain: Swiss villages were usually physically so separate from each other, due to the extreme heights and winter conditions, that languages became separate within distances of 30-50 kilometers, and somebody not part of the village was considered a foreigner. So Alphorns and yodelling were developed to bridge these distances.
