Actually Alexander's empire is why and how the "hellenistic period" was created. The hellenistic period resulted in the safekeeping of greek manuscripts in the persian language and the arabic language later on. Those translations centuries later returned in Europe and gave birth to rennaissance and essentially to the modern western civilization

@sparghast Okay, let's be realistic here. Alexander lead on empire. That's it. Sure he was intellectual, but how was he the greatest man in history. To be a great man you have to have left a huge print, Alexander didn't do that. To be honest actually, hes nothing compared to others who could easily go for that title. E.g. Octavian and Julius Caesar, Muhammad (sws), Jesus (sws), Ghandi ect.

@xArabianxBeastx Well boy I too am 15 and am half-Greek and let me tell you because obviously they didn't teach you about Alexander. Do you think modern generals want to be like him for no reason? Like the other person said he could always adapt to any battle and think up new ways to win it. Also he was not a coward like most generals in history, he lead from the front every time and was the first to hit the enemy line. He also spread Greek culture as far as India so I think he did a fair bit.
