Hungarian coloratura soprano Erika Miklósa singing the famous Queen of the Night aria Der Hölle Rache Kocht In Meinem Herzen from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's opera Die Zauberflöte (K 620). This video is taken from a 07.09.2003. performance in Bochum which was conduced by Marc Minkowski. You can sence his style in the playing of the orchestra, although, considering the fact that this is Minko at work, I expected the whole thing to be at least a bit faster...

@myprrrecious Of course I do, it's just that Minkowski usually pushes all the tempi to their extremes, so this was just a tiny little joke regarding that habit of his. :)

I think Minko is absolutely brilliant...when was the last time you heard this aria played with such variety and sensitivity to dynamics?! The inner harmonies are given life and movement and the whole thing takes on a gothic brilliance that one almost NEVER hears. Miklosa sings the crap out of the thing, but she's clearly part of the music making, not just a canary chirping away.
