Many left comments that suggest that they think they are the "perfect beings." However, think about it, if everyone was a racist bigot, as some seem to be, who did not appreciate variety in people (as we do with food, flowers, etc.), then, to others, YOU would be the one the world could do without; they'd see themselves as being better than YOU. Given most people have an appreciation for human rights, bigots are, therefore, the U.S. minorities! But should you die because you are a minority?

Anyone retarded enough to beat up a guy for not liking pussy isn't going to be thinking rationally enough to care about harsher punishments, so laws like that are useless. In fact they potentially create MORE hate by fostering resentment against the minority for being shown special treatment.
Laws should govern actions not thoughts - it's ALREADY against the law to beat someone up, and people do it for all kinds of reasons (boredom, psychosis, greed etc) - why should one reason get singled out?

If you were a part of a minority being discriminated as much as gays have been during the course of history, I'd bet my entire fortune, you'd find nothing wrong with people advocating straight-pride parades etc..
The reason, why straight people don't "go around trying to get the world to accept us", is that we ARE accepted. We are the majority, and do not face discrimination because of our orientation.
Try looking at things from the opposing side..
