seemed normal to me, for 1st, 2nd, 5th and if available 6th gear you have to put the gear leaver to a side. Only 3rd and 4th are in the middle.
You must be confused with a semi-automatic.

Awesome start, but whats with all the bumping later? you seem to have 20hp on the rest of the field (I know most of those were B cars)... hmmm...
